This short online course will give you the best available guidance to support with the essential aspects of your role focussing on how to deal with inspections.
School Attendance is a national priority – the Government have categorically stated this and included new support measures in the Schools Bill. The recent published guidance ‘Working together to improve school attendance ‘ is applicable from September 2022 and will become statutory guidance from September 2023. The aim is to improve consistency of attendance management across Schools, Mat’s and Local Authorities, so parents and pupils get the right support at the right time.
This fully online course is delivered via our specialist learning platform – you will be able to access training videos, written materials, downloadable templates, examples and tools, and a test at the end to check your learning.
Designed for flexible learning it means you can work at your own pace and in your own time, and with a year’s access you can keep going back to refresh your knowledge.

In October 2015 after almost 16 years of working for and in turn managing a Local Authority Education Welfare I with two partners established CSAWS (Central School Attendance and Welfare Service ltd.) CSAWS is a team of proactive, passionate and committed Education Welfare Officers. We are committed to achieving better outcomes for children by securing regular attendance at school. We understand that the reasons behind non-school attendance can be varied and complex. We offer both strategic and casework interventions. We provide support to schools and settings to identify and improve school attendance including reviewing, refining and advising on school approaches and processes. We develop clear action plans for and with schools through thorough data analysis and attendance reviews.
